Prepping for a New You

Too often holiday bells signal the arrival of the dreaded JANUARY 1st. We all make wild resolutions to make ourselves better, thinner, more organized, and somehow younger.

I myself am just as guilty, often waking up early for about 3 weeks to work out in the cold winter light, or starting a journal that ultimately is abandoned by mid March.

I’ve decided to ease into my New Years resolutions, instead of hard and cold turkey approach. A gradual ease always seems to make my choices stick easier, so why not ease into easier with me.

Today, my tiny clean: The Phone.

Three pages of old apps and folders that no longer represent what is actually inside them, often using the title that the iPhone assigns them. I have new games and organization apps, a few cool Self Care ones and they’re all in the wrong place.

Page one was originally where all the “real” things I used often lived. Unfortunately, many of the apps could be further consolidated to make it easier to navigate.

A bunch of random apps, especially some new ones recently downloaded that haven’t been organized.

Again, what we call “leftover” apps...ones I don’t really use but can’t delete, ones that were downloaded and used sparingly enough to never need to organize them...

Lets take all the old apps out, and recategorize what’s left. Rename your folders to something easy to understand, reminding you what’s in folders with multiple items.

I’m now left with a single page and everything that needs it is in a nice easy to access folder. Don’t be scared of folders, when you need an app just swipe down from the top and search with the spotlight feature if you’re concerned about “loosing an app”.

Frankly, if you don’t use it because it’s hidden in a folder, we’re you ever going to use it anyway?

There we go, 10 minutes while I boiled my tea water and steeped my teapot and I’m a bit more organized.

Easing into easy organization!
